Eraser Carving-The Year of the Rat
Every year I join a carving swap celebrating the Chinese New Year. The year 2008 is the Year of the Rat. Not my favorite Chinese New Year character!!! As always, I had a hard time deciding what to carve-so I carved two rats-one for the front and one for the back of the page. I have yet to decide what to do for a background, so what you see here are the naked carvings. LOL! I do love to carve. I hate to stamp afterwards, as it seems so final. But carving is just beyond description. You get in the groove and do not, cannot stop. Love it!

Wonderful carvings!!
Beautiful carvings as always, Miz Chris! I really like the one on the left. Hugs & Happy New Year from Me & Mr. Steve!
beautiful, both of them! is there a site where i can see the carvings of the previous years?
rat or no rat, these are lovely. Great work. I am in awe!
These are fabulous! I like them 'naked' !
How is that done? With an eraser. I like your art - there is a wide variety of kind of work here. I'm pretty much one dimensional.

GORGEOUS! And my year too, so it is my favorite. Coolio.
So, these are pink erasers, white plastic erasers or some special block? You do some nice detail work and a surface I tried that says it cuts like butter is easy to cut but not real good for detail (they break off too easily).
I have always loved your carvings :) These are no exception :)
